Anna Cantor (B.A. Hons. 2008 Concordia University)
I finished my BA at Concordia University this past Spring in my hometown of Montreal. I did my honours thesis in a clinical health lab specializing in generalized anxiety disorder. My honours thesis focused on how people interpret ambiguous information and whether or not they bias such stimuli in a threatening way. However, most of my research experience comes from working in a neurobiology lab, which looked at animal models of drug addiction and eating disorders.
Naghmeh Shafiei (B.A. Hons 2009 Concordia University)
I am from Montreal, Qc and graduated in 2009 from Concordia University with honours in Psychology. My undergraduate research experience was obtained under the supervision of Dr. James Pfaus and focused on the different neurochemical basis of sexual behavior in the female rat. I am currently an MA candidate in the Floresco lab, and am studying the interface between amphetamine and stress on prefrontal cortex mediated decision making.
Jen St.Onge (M.A. 2008 University of British Columbia, B.A. Hons 2006 University of Regina)
I am currently studying the neurological basis of risky decision making. For my master's thesis I assessed the roles of different dopamine receptors using an automated risk-based decision making task with rats. We are now examining the neural circuits that are recruited during this task using temporary inactivations through surgically implanted guide cannulae. Other future studies will include microdialysis experiments measuring changes in dopamine levels during risky decisions, as well as studies looking at how chronic dopaminergic treatments for patients with clinical disorders such as Parkinson's disease and restless legs syndrome lead to increased risky behaviour and how these effects may be ameliorated.
Colin Stopper (B.S. Hons. 2008 University of Connecticut)
I am from North Haven, Connecticut, USA. In 2008, I graduated with a B.S. with honors from the University of Connecticut. My honors thesis, supervised under Dr. John Salamone, focused on the role of adenosine agonists and antagonists in modulating visual stimulus detection
